My Story

The diagnosis that changed my life.

During the recession of 2008, I was made redundant from my job. As a single mother working full-time in order to support myself and my daughter, while studying for my Accounting Technician certification in the evenings, losing that income was a big blow. I had already been living in fight-or-flight mode on a daily basis, between trying to run a household and raise a child alone. Despite this, I decided to continue with my studies in the hopes of landing a better job once I’d graduated and enjoy the extra time I had with my daughter.

In June 2009, I successfully completed my course. Hip hip hooray! The long hours and stress had paid off. I enjoyed the rest of the summer with my family and my gorgeous girl.

Towards the end of August, however, I discovered a lump in my neck. I was soon referred to hospital and diagnosed with CLL - Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. My world (at least - in my head) collapsed. For months, I didn’t have a solid night’s sleep, was barely eating and lost a lot of weight. I took sleeping pills every night, and diazepam during the day in a bid to calm my mind and body.

My Guardian Angels

A couple months after my diagnosis, I was referred to a nurse called Iris - my angel. She listened, held my hand and, after just one session with her, a weight was lifted. That night, I slept like a baby. Somehow, I felt more peaceful and calm. It was like nothing any pill had ever done or could do for me! What I hadn’t realised at the time in my mental haze was that Iris was, in fact, a Reiki Healer.

She had such a profound effect on my life that I chose to go to another healer when I was experiencing intense pain following Chemo and Immunotherapy in 2013. She also greatly alleviated my pain and suffering, which reaffirmed my belief in the power of energy healing. After a suggestion from her, I learnt Reiki Level 1 to self-heal and never looked back, having qualified as a Reiki Master and Teacher in 2018.

No Going Back...

I knew, moving forward, that I could never go back to a life of stress, overwhelm and poor eating habits.

I devoted my time to becoming a certified Nutritional Therapist so that I could better understand how to fuel and nourish my body, and hopefully teach others to do the same. This passion has led to me growing my own homegrown, organic produce - reducing myself and my family's exposure to unwanted chemicals and rediscovering the value of the peace and sacredness of nature.

Through my recovery from CLL, Breast Cancer in 2019 and dealing with Menopause, I continue to fuel and nourish my body, mind and soul with energy healing, good food and various daily rituals, including meditation, grounding, Qi Gong and spending time outdoors.
